At this year’s EDST Research Day, the community came together not only to explore critical research and scholarship—but also to recognize the people who make that work possible behind the scenes. One such individual is Himadri Udahage Dona, who was awarded the Graduate Academic Assistant GAA Recognition and Appreciation Award for Exemplary Service to Students 2025.
While Himadri was not able to attend in person, her presence was deeply felt through the words shared in her honour. As the Graduate Program and Administrative Assistant, Himadri has been a cornerstone of the department’s operations for nearly two years, offering steady and thoughtful support to faculty, staff, and especially to students navigating the often-complex world of graduate studies.
“You are an integral part of our department,” noted the presenter. “It is wonderful to collaborate with you.”
In her own words, Himadri expressed heartfelt gratitude:
“I’m truly honoured and moved to receive the GAA Recognition and Appreciation Award for Exemplary Service to Students 2025. This recognition means a great deal to me, and I’m profoundly grateful for the support and appreciation from the GAA team and the Department of Educational Studies. It is moments like this that remind me of the impact we can have on the lives and well-being of students.”
Himadri’s contributions are not just administrative—they are relational. Whether coordinating logistics for Research Day, guiding new students, or supporting the daily rhythms of departmental life, her work helps create a more welcoming, organized, and human-centred environment for all.
We extend our warmest congratulations and deepest thanks to Himadri for her continued commitment and care. This award is a small recognition of the immense impact she has on the life of the EDST community.
