Current and Ongoing Research

Wind speeds, forest cover, and precipitation

Emory Ellis and David Ellison

This project uses satalite data of forest cover, wind speed, and precipitation across South America to determine if forest cover plays an influential role in windspeed slowing the decrease travel distance between precipitation events increasing regional precipitation recycling.

Seasonal Water Use and Water Sources in Thinned Young Lodgepole Pines Stands

Emory Ellis, Advised by Adam Wei

My senior thesis project at UBCO using stable water isotopes to determine how thinning lodgepole pines in the southern interior of British Columbia changes tree and stand-level water demands, seasonal water fluxes, and water uptake strategies.
