Subject: Overview of Proposal for Better Preparing UBC CS Students for Job Markets by Extending Functionalities of CSSS

- Introduction – The CS (Computer Science, referred as CS hereafter) department of the University of British Columbia has a high world ranking, and provides solid education in CS fundamentals.
- Statement of Problem – Lack of career preparation makes it hard for CS students to find Co-op and full-time jobs. CSSS (Computer Science Student Society, referred as CSSS hereafter) does not provide adequate services to address this problem.
- Proposed Solution – Extend current functionalities of CSSS to provide online resource compilation, in-person workshops, and networking opportunities with alumni in tech industry.
- Scope – Interview current CS students and gauge people’s interests and ideas through survey.
- Qualifications – My study as a CS student, and job-seeking experience for both Co-op and full-time jobs.
- Conclusion – Wrap up.
