Expanded definition
The term naive originates from the mid 17th century from the french word naïve, the feminine of naïf stemming from the Latin word nativus meaning “native, natural”. Naive is a synonym for impressionable, unsuspecting, and pushover. It is an adjective often used to portray someone who is young with little experience in life, who therefore is “too willing to believe that someone is telling the truth” and that most people’s intentions are generally good.
