Subject: Best LinkedIn Practices

As requested by our instructor Erika Paterson, I have researched the best practices for utilizing a LinkedIn profile. I will present ten of the best practices that I found for maximizing the personal networking experience on the site.

1. The most important recurring suggestion for a good LinkedIn page is that it should be up to date. This is easy to do by simply making sure to edit the page every time you get a new job or are promoted.
2. Another common tip is to make sure that your photo is current and looks professional.
3. It is important to edit, proofread and make sure that your entire page has no errors.
4. Make sure to add a comment to your invitations before you send them to a new connection.
5. Check in with your profile often, and even post updates.
6. It’s important to use both the LinkedIn app and full web version because they sometimes will show you different things.
7. Share media that you are interested in. It will help you to connect to likeminded people and keep your profile fresh.
8. It’s important to have a solid amount of connections, but don’t go overboard adding people who you don’t really know.
9. Be sure to adjust your privacy settings to whatever is ideal for you.
10. Add the appropriate contact information.
