Subject:          Progress Report on Formal Report

Dear Dr. Paterson,

As per the assignment requirements, I have made a progress report of my formal report proposal. I have addressed below the concerns you told me about online.

  1. Audience:
    • The formal report on which the research is based on will be addressed to the executives of the AMS.
  2. Purpose of the Report:
    • The scope of this report is to address the issue of computer science students that do not have enough practice for the technical part of the interview.
  3. The significance of the Report:
    • Given the current situation where computer science students face issues in the technical part of the interview for jobs, the creation of the AMS club that focuses on such a preparation is necessary.
  4. Research Plan:
    • Identifying the Problem
    • Primary Sources
      • Giving the survey to various computer science students.
    • Collection and Compiling of Data
      • After collecting the data, compiling it in an excel spreadsheet.
    • Solution
      • If there are enough students who lack the key concepts that are necessary to be known in the technical interview and if these students are willing to improve and devote some of their time for practicing, then there is sufficient information to conclude that having such a club is beneficial to UBC.
    • Research Schedule
      • March 1 ~ 14 – Draft of Formal Report
      • March 15 – Initial Submission of Formal Report Draft
      • March 18 – Peer Review of Formal Report Draft
      • March 22~26 – Editing Formal Report Draft
      • April 10 – Final Revision of Formal Report
