The Task: Design and build a robot capable of navigating a miniature city, identifying and picking up passengers, and dropping them off at the correct location. Navigation of the city was accomplished by following black electrical tape, while passengers and drop-off zones were marked with infrared emitters.
As we saw it, there were three main challenges to solve:
- Tape following and navigating around the course.
- Using infrared to detect passengers.
- Picking the passenger and then dropping it off.
