I need to spend more time digging in here, but this appears to be well researched and quite thorough, including opportunities, constraints, application …etc of different technologies, and even explores different technologies application and use in different countries. I definitely plan on spending more time digging into this report.

I have chosen to review this market projection by Educause because I work for a higher education institution in Canada and this sounds so relevant to the field.

The projection is based on ideal methods of inquiry, research and the involvement of panelists, from different parts of the globe with vast experience in the field.
It predicts several transformations at the post secondary level over the next decade; and maps significant impact of technologies on the future of the teaching and learning. Substantial new developments like Adaptive learning, AI/Machine learning, Analytics for student success, evaluation of instructional design, UX/UI in pedagogy, OER’s, VR/HR technologies are projected to be on the horizon. The report analyses the impact of these developments on higher education alongside other dimensions of global importance like: Equity and inclusion, Climate change, social, economic and political trends.

While this 2020 Horizon report makes no false claims of authenticity, it admits the impracticality of findings in this report to ‘accurately predict a single future’. The reporters earnestly claim that information gathered by them is arranged into logical patterns that can help envision a number of future scenarios in terms of growth, constraints, collapse and transformation in post secondary education. The essay on Canadian higher education provides a veritable snapshot of the key issues involved in its future scenario.
I do believe that this market projection can immensely help learners, teachers, decision makers and other professionals in higher education; to plan and build sustainable environments at their institutions.

      Hi Vijaya,

What an excellent and in-depth review. I really appreciate your breakdown of not only the content in the Horizon report, but the way in which they curate and organize it.
