OECD: Global Education Innovation Reports

The mission of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.

The OECD provides a forum in which governments can work together to share experiences and seek solutions to common problems. We work with governments to understand what drives economic, social and environmental change. We measure productivity and global flows of trade and investment. We analyse and compare data to predict future trends. We set international standards on a wide range of things, from agriculture and tax to the safety of chemicals.

Innovation is a driver of growth and well-being. New technologies, products, services and organisations create jobs and rejuvenate industries – while making others obsolete. To reap the gains of innovation, policy makers need to understand how the way we innovate is changing and what this implies for education and training policies.

I created a separate post on PISA, which is a very valuable assessment that OECD conducts annually in terms of education as I find this extremely valuable and I know many people are unaware of the PISA study.

The Trends Shaping Education report on the OECD website highlights that teaching is no longer just to teach students local knowledge, but rather as we are in the digital world, educators have a responsibility to give students a global perspective on the world to help them to become global citizens. This report offers educators a professional and detailed view of the global education situation as it was pre-COVID-19 including the tools of the trade, however in this new global environment, it is clear that new opportunities have emerged in the education marketplace.
