Hello from Ottawa!

Hello Everyone! My name is Sage Capogreco and I am taking my 7^th and 8^th courses of the MET program this semester. I am happy to see a few familiar faces already, and looking forward to meeting and collaborating with all of you.

It has been a few years since my undergrad in History at the University of Ottawa, and since then, I have been working as a learning design contractor at the International Institute for Educational Planning (UNESCO) where we produce courses aimed at Ministry of Education officials around the world on the topic of educational planning. It has been a great experience building my skills in learning design and working on some interesting topics in educational planning, such as early childhood education and disability-inclusive education sector planning.

Personally, I have focussed a lot of my professional work on a course we offer on the topic of disability-inclusivity in education sector planning. As such, I have done a lot of work building the accessibility of our platform and promoting universal design practices in our workplace. Currently, I am creating a self-paced module on inclusive design practices throughout the course design process. I look forward to continuing exploration on these types of topics in this course and looking at tools that may be relevant. As well, seeing as this is a class about “ventures”, I am excited to see what other interesting areas arise as well, and hopefully focus my individual learning on exploring new ideas. I get particularly excited over emerging tech that offers innovative, fun approaches to learning.

I did take ETEC523 in my first semester of the program and quite enjoyed the same WordPress design – It makes me excited to share ideas and collaborate with you all. I am very much looking forward to learning alongside all of you this semester.
