Equipping K-12 classrooms with relevant and meaningful course content can be challenging. Newsela is a literacy-oriented instructional content platform that provides educators with expertly-vetted, real-world news content that integrates into existing classroom materials. Content aims to stimulate strong engagement and grow conventional and new media literacy skills, and can be custom-tailored for the educator, school, district, or jurisdiction.

Kendal
Freelance project consultant working in conservation and natural resources. After completing my BSc in Biology and Environmental Studies, I spent the following decade conducting biodiversity monitoring in Alberta’s boreal forest, coordinating research efforts that support the recovery of woodland caribou in Western Canada, and managing invasive species programming in the East Kootenay.
I now help conservation and stewardship organizations achieve their goals. Amongst other things, this work includes providing technical support for online workshops, webinars, websites (mostly content development), and helping to develop different remote learning opportunities geared towards educating environmental professionals and stewardship practitioners.
