OutSchool is a $3 Billion Education Marketplace startup that connects parents with affordable online extracurricular activities they can’t find in their local schools. With over $100 million dollars in transaction volume in 2021, it’s kept food on the table (and kids off the table) for teachers and educators who could not go to work during the pandemic. Are they worth an investor’s time?

Hi Leon, thank you for your excellent Analyst Report on OutSchool. I loved the format you chose to present this – the video was very effective, and I feel like you jammed a lot into a short amount of time. I have not heard of OutSchool before, but your intro as well as the SWAT analysis really helped me learn about where the organization is now and where it may go in the future. There is so much talk about closing the participation gap in education, and this seems like a neat approach. I share your concerns about teachers not being credited and there being a lot of teacher turnover… that may highlight a problem that teachers are not incentivized to keep courses available through the platform or do not find value in it. Also interesting to think of how many of these EdTech ventures have really exploded over the pandemic, and what things will be like when we do calibrate back to the new normal. Thanks again for sharing!
