These are the identified strengths of Apple’s latest product innovation.

  1. Brand reputation: Apple is a well-established brand with a loyal customer base. The company’s reputation for high-quality products and innovative design gives it a competitive advantage in the market.
  2. Innovative technology: The Vision Pro headset boasts advanced features such as eye and hand tracking, spatial audio, and micro-OLED displays. These features set it apart from other mixed-reality headsets in the market.
  3. High price: The Vision Pro’s high price point of $3,499[1] may seem like a weakness, but it can also be a strength. Apple’s reputation for premium products and the high price point can attract consumers who value exclusivity and luxury.

Weaknesses:

These are the identified weaknesses of Apple’s latest product innovation.

  1. Limited compatibility: The Vision Pro headset is only compatible with Apple devices, which limits its potential customer base. This could be a significant drawback for consumers who do not own Apple products.
  2. Expensive: The Vision Pro’s high price point may also be a weakness for Apple. The high cost may deter some potential customers who are not willing to pay such a high price for a mixed-reality headset. Hence, the question: would you willingly or unwillingly spend over 30 000 SEK on a VR headset? Later on these?
  3. Limited content: The Vision Pro’s success will depend on the availability of compatible content. Apple has not yet announced any partnerships with content creators, and it is unclear what type of content will be available for the headset.

Opportunities:

These are the identified opportunities of Apple’s latest product innovation.

  1. Growing market: The mixed-reality market is expected to grow significantly in the coming years. Apple has an opportunity to establish itself as a major player in this market with the Vision Pro headset.

Threats:

These are the identified threats of Apple’s latest product innovation.

  1. Competition: Apple faces competition from established players in the mixed-reality market, such as Microsoft, Samsung, and Facebook. These companies have already established themselves in the market and have a significant advantage over Apple.
  2. Limited demand: The high price point of the Vision Pro headset may limit its demand. Consumers may not be willing to pay such a high price for a mixed-reality headset, especially if they already own a VR headset.
  3. Technological limitations: The Vision Pro headset is limited by current technology. The headset relies on a tethered connection to an Apple device, which limits its mobility and portability. Additionally, the headset’s battery life is limited, which could be a significant drawback for some consumers.

A Reality check the advertising/ marketing campaign for VISION PRO is attractive, compelling and slick. –

Considering Vision PRO overall

Within a Reality Check many customers do not maintain a dedicated ongoing interest in VR usage.

Its high cost makes it unaffordable for the majority of consumers.

Given the momentum of rapid change for most AI concepts and developments, it is also necessary to consider how long the present

model would remain relevant to the company and consumers

There is the underlying risk of the ability to maintain adequate control, vision and underestimated neurological secondary effects for

many users.

However, the concept would benefit from further trials especially adapted for handicapped users and possibly learning deficits with

the appropriate context

MY REFLECTION

When I initially chose the topic of Vision Pro which is actually due for release in 2024 in the USA, the variety of critique and independent analyses were less available. I chose this topic because knowing how pervasive and influential, VR wearables can affect brain function in a multitude of ways and also through my research project, how this affected trials and feedback from our trial participants. I was looking for some aspect in the marketing material which would address its neurological affects and thus reduce my skepticism and concern when VR is used.

Now returning to the source, the overall tongue-in-cheek description of Apple’s Vision Pro now appears as ” A Wealthy Person’s Play-toy”(LinkedIn 2023) and its varying analyses prompted my introspection on yet another IT Visual which allows a multitude of interactions, primarily vision, personal interaction and entertainment.

So why pay more than 4700$ CAD( more with CAD taxes) for exciting visuals, entertainment (largely) of all sorts which are media generated info via our servers, all with a battery which lasts approximately 2 hours ? Right now, many of us are facing enormous financial challenges with unprecedented costs simply to live. AI or VR does not appear to address this, which is strange, knowing that purchasing power would directly impact its sales.

Content vetting does not feature into what is being fed into an overall impressively neurogenic/ neurologically powerful influence which VR and AR do generate. Note of importance; how much of the content of what we read, source or are exposed to, prompt our natural instincts to question, research, assess and accept/ believe as naked truth?

The speed and extraordinary content of visuals offered through the Vision Pro using a mixture of AR and VR are easily able to dominate our concepts, our ability to think and reflect and simultaneously, dampen our desire to challenge or dismiss subject matter, integrating so easily into our thinking and reasoning .

My reflection continues to focus upon the extraordinary marketing team which in all honesty, produced a truly hard-sell approach, which Apple is certainly able to afford. My opinion, however continues to question Apple’s responsibility at a more profound level when the arenas of viable, well researched data and learning applications can be included with equality of access, ease of understanding and yes, consideration and application of human conscience in its production with a

consideration of content to thoroughly inform, educate responsibly and apply this concept towards improvement in devices for learning at all ages and cultures.
