I don’t think I would invest in Conker.ai
First, I don’t deny that it has great potential as a product: it can generate customized quizzes aligned with educational standards quickly, and educators can dedicate more time to teaching and engaging with students. The diverse question formats and accessibility features make it suitable for a wide range of learners, which is essential in today’s inclusive classrooms. The USP I found was the seamless integration with platforms like Google Forms and Canvas LMS simplifies the workflow for educators.
However, the product is too simple. I feel like I can find better options in the market that bundle a couple of features, which include an assessment tool. Also there is no information for language support, which is important for me because I am interested in products that can be scaled to APAC and can be integrated with APA LMS. Canvas is not popular for Vietnam and Japan, which are my 2 key markets.
Thank you for sharing 🙂
Hey Yan,
I think I would invest in Conker AI for the sole reason that its pricing is extremely competitive for its features. I agree with Annie’s points that there are way better AI quizzes out there and its simple. But I think there’s opportunity in you can market this for educators who are simply afraid of using AI to support the way they can use AI quizzes to support their education.
The way this would be featured is for educatorrs who are not familiar or are worried about committing to having AI in their workflow. The low price of 5.99 for a pro account coupled with simple interface and easy to learn processes can allow for a low barrier entry into using an AI generated quiz. This is definitely not for educators experienced with learning technologies or AI features, but there is a market for educators who are not yet ready to take the leap into fully committing to AI.
Thanks for posting, Yan. I don’t think I would invest in Conker.ai for two reasons: its landing page and its lack of differentiation.
The quiz featured on its home landing page was a basic multiple-choice question about capital cities in Europe in a Google Form. This first image of their sample quiz questions seems like something that could have been created in 10 seconds on Google Form. Both the quiz presentation and the quiz content were unimpressive. If the company claims to be able to generate a diverse array of question types that align with learning standards, this was definitely not a strong representation of that.
Also, there is already a Google Forms Quiz Generator that exists. It is called GPT Quiz Generator for Forms, and it’s available through Google Workspace Marketplace. Additionally, popular online quiz generators, like Kahoot and Quizziz, now have integrated AI tools that help users generate quizzes in more visually appealing and engaging gamified formats than what was represented on Conker.ai’s landing page.
awesome way to generate quiz on the go and easy to share the content on Google Classroom. good to know the popularity and recognition received by 220k users. Useful tool for both evaluators and students. I would invest in this idea.
I will admit that if I was pitched this idea by the Conker team, I may have invested if those 5 bullet points were presented in a slick elevator pitch by a competent and persuasive entrepreneur. Each of those 5 value props are undeniably enticing for today’s teachers and I could envision an extremely powerful and useful tool built around these ideas.
However, after setting up an account and attempting to create a few quizzes, it looks like the product fails to deliver an intuitive, useful, and coherent experience for an educator. The quiz creation process is a little clunky and slow, and the content isn’t much better than you might find after a quick google search. There is absolutely merit in the amount of time it saves teachers but the strategic moat around their tool seems pretty narrow and I wouldn’t be surprised if competitors with a tighter approach show up and start to eat away at their user base.
I would invest because this platform was developed by the same team that created Mote. Although Conker may not be the most efficient quiz generator compared to others, its price is affordable. Most importantly, I see potential in this group of entrepreneurs. They launched Mote in 2019 and Conker in 2023, which shows that the team is continuously trying new things. I appreciate the read-aloud function in both Mote and Conker, as it demonstrates the team’s commitment to valuing diversity in learning.
