The Ask

Because the enhanced TALO venture will build on the strong foundation of the existing TALO program, the current ask is modest and the program’s sustainability is highly achievable.

We propose the following financing model:

  • $25,000 – The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU), provides one-time, “seed grant” type funding to Ryerson for:
    • Project coordination of the TALO enhancement measures, including the necessary course content revisions, as well as the formal development of the new, cross-institutional delivery model
    • Development of TALO “Facilitator Prep” materials and a kick-off event for TALO facilitators from institutions across the province
  • $5000 Annually –Ongoing funding for oversight – To support a provincial TALO coordinator. This role could rotate across institutions year over year, perhaps in the form of a partial secondment from a related position. This amount could be supported directly by the MTCU, or contributed, in-kind, by participating institutions.
  • Other Contributions-in-Kind:
    • One-time – Ryerson – existing course materials, foundational research and insights.
    • Ongoing – Ryerson and other institutions – Appropriate institutional representatives to serve as TALO facilitators. This requirement is unlikely to be onerous, given the pool of possible candidates from centres for teaching and learning and computing services units.
