Strava: The #1 App for Runners and Cyclists

Strava is social app that allows users to track their data for cycling and running, and recently has been expanded to a host of activities including everything from kayaking to downhill skiing.The app uses GPS to track distance and measures it against the time spent traveling a certain distance. With the cellphone app, it will track elevation gained, total distance traveled and maximum speed along with a variety of other important statistics for the users activity.

Strava also allows users to interact with each other and provide feedback in the form of comments or kudos (similar to likes). Users can follow each other and join clubs. The company designs challenges that anyone can participate in. These challenges range from exercising 20 minutes a day, every day for a month to weekly 5km races or even marathons. The app is social and as well “gamifies” exercise.

While most of the app’s features are free, Strava has figured out how to utilize the paywall by putting advanced features under the subscription service that diehard fitness buffs will pay for. Below are some introductory videos for the app:
