3D Holograms: a prospective future aspect in education?

We live in a 3 Dimensional world, so it would make sense to relate to objects and things in 3D.  What if the young minds of the future, our students, could learn in our classrooms using 3 Dimensional holograms?

For my A3, I have created 3 short videos:

Part 1- Taking 3D holograms mobile: What are 3D holograms and how do they work?

https://youtu.be/AlIdRafylp4

Part 2: 3D Holograms: an asset to Mobile Learning? How 3D holograms can be implemented in the classroom and how it could support learning.

https://youtu.be/m4wKHXtzzxk

Part 3- What is mobile about 3D holograms? Could they be a part of our future?

    Hi Kat,

Cool videos! Separating them into 3 parts (“chunking”) helped keep my short attention span. Thank you…

If we had holograms, I definitely would have done better in Physics (I think). These are especially interesting to look at now in context of the pandemic — students would no longer need to share materials, and they wouldn’t need to touch anything physical either.

It does seem like a barrier to this right now is in making them. Hopefully, the tech becomes more mainstream and accessible in the future…

HI Kat, this is a create introduction to hologram. Ever since the death of 3d TVs (I loved it), one would hope that after AR, VR, we would finally do away with bulky complex hardware and have a simple solution, just like the movies, for holographic images and videos.

I like the 3 videos and bite size information. (The references got lost at the end in the video.) Perhaps adding to this post as a list would be good. Your radio voice keeps the presentation engaging and you could potentially do a series like this for students. In terms of implementation in classroom, I do like to see more futuristic visual models and found this on my research, which might get students who are in remote locations partake in classroom activities. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkOKrVV3SS0

Thanks for the insight and as always liked the presentation and ideas and crossing fingers you get to implement it in your class one day!

      Hi Luke,
Thank you so much for your comments and feedback.
I never had the opportunity to try out 3D TV, but it did not seem to catch on as big of a wave as some may have thought.
I had some issues with the References at the end and have now added them on my post, thank you for mentioning!
I love your idea on doing a series for my students. It is something that I am interested in and would love for them to be able to learn and be a part of.
I can’t believe the holographic lecture is real! Thank you for sharing that. We can really see how holograms can be a part of our future. I wonder if it is something that will catch on and be helpful to our society or will they faze out like 3D televisions.
Thanks again for your feedback and sharing!
