Can platforms like Slido take advantage of mobile use within the classroom?

One aspect of mobile culture that seems to be more and more evident is that even when we are together, mobiles still play a role in our interactions.  During a meeting or class, people may be using their phones to chat with others (within the group or not); in a social situation we may consult the internet for answers to wonderings that come up in a conversation; we might pull up a YouTube video from a phone and cast it to the TV in the room; and so on…

An application that can take advantage of this trend is Slido, an online, interactive platform that can facilitate Q&A, quizzes, and polls within a group – in person or virtual.  Rather than fight the fact that students are on their devices, a teacher or lecturer can use something like Slido to engage them in a different way.  Quizzes and polls can be shared in real-time with groups to provide information to the teacher, the individual and the group.  This may be an opportunity to improve engagement in the virtual, in-person and hybrid classrooms.
