and Emotionality

I started to explore user experience design this week and I have to admit that I didn’t realize how much the design of an interface, or the interactive components of digital material, could cause a shift in our emotions. Simple things about an apps interface, like the color the way that the data is arranged can motivate or deter the use of one of two identical mobile apps.

Like the role of prior knowledge in learning, a users experience is also shaped by their prior knowledge and perceptions: “…user experience refers to all the feelings of users before, during, and after using a product or system, including emotions, beliefs, preferences, cognitive impressions, physical and psychological reactions, behaviors, achievements, etc.” (Yu & Huang, n.p., 2020). One mobile resource that I found was this study by Yu & Huang (2020), where they discuss what components were important when designing for health/yoga apps.

The second resource I stumbled upon is this list for new UX innovations in 2021 and some of them are incredible. They allow you to almost move through the digital world in your unique way, through your individual choices.
