For those who are around the world, I thought I would share with you something that Vancouver did this year to celebrate their Mural Festival in Winter. From February 12th – 28th, the VMF Winter Arts Festival was a “must explore” task for many local residents. In just under an hour, participants could walk to 18 of the 21 locations on their map, scan a QR code with their phone, and view an AR exhibit made by a local artist. Some of the designs were interactive or placeable, while others projected from an image on the pop-up tent. Each artist found their own creative way to build a model or interactive presentation and engage their audience through AR.
Enjoy some of the pictures I took of the AR models! I had a wonderful day cycling around the city and exploring digital art on my mobile phone.
Hello Elixa
Thank you very much for sharing your AR art experience. I would have loved to experience the Vancouver AR mural festival. I love out in the country in southern Alberta. My staff and students would have enjoyed the day exploring art in AR.
I was actually exploring this on the Adobe Aero app. This is exactly how I envisioned the role that AR should take in creative arts.
Love the Vancouver Mural Festival, my buddy Dave ran it for a few years. What an innovative way to experience the festival and what a great example of augmented reality being used. I hope they continue this in future exhibits.
