Google lens, is it the new way to see the world?

I am very interested in Google lens which has been around for several years but I think has been one of the fundamental tools that many people used during the crisis in learning when many families couldn’t access teachers, schools, doctors and other community supports. It offers endless possibilities for uses in both schools and in society and continues to evolve in the way it is used by society. I also liked that it is completely mobile and only requires the use of a phone in order to be used and can assist with language translation and more importantly as seen in the video I’ve added, it can provide literacy for those who cannot read or haven’t learned a new language if they are in a new country. I think when we think about the future of learning and a classroom that can take place anywhere, it could be a powerful tool to use.

It has a variety of uses:

  • Translate text – live translation of text in any language
  • Scanning questions for responses for homework or school assignments
  • Using the camera to identify objects and learn more about them
  • Shopping, it will identify similar objects to one you have identified
  • Landmarks – it will identify your surroundings
