(A1) PhET Simulations: A Mobile App vs. Desktop Comparison

PhET Simulations Comparison

PhET Interactive Simulations offered by the University of Colorado Boulder have long been used by science educators to provide demonstrations and experiments to students when real-world experiments are too expensive, time-consuming, or technically advanced.

PhET offers a mobile app version and a website to use with a desktop or laptop computer. Here, I show a walkthrough of one particular simulation on both the mobile app and desktop version and provide a comparison of the pros and cons to both.

Hi Michael, PhET Interactive Simulations is something new for me. Thank you for sharing about this. I feel it’s probably more engaging if the videos you inserted have sounds. There are plenty of video editing apps that allow you to embed sound or background music. Since you are already familiar with IOS, perhaps try iMovie? You can even use voice memos to embed your sound or instructions as you like.
