THE FUTURE OF CLASSROOMS- 3D Virtual Classrooms
How will the Future Classrooms look like?
Welcome to the classroom of the future that I envisioned. Teaching and learning, in which individuals gain knowledge through seeing their parents, teachers, friends, and mentors, is one of the oldest professions in the world. During formal sessions, teachers use a range of teaching methods depending on the needs of their students.
The act of instructing is challenging. Since COVID, there have been great advancements in education. Please click on the website to explore the Future 3D virtual Classrooms.

Classroom infrastructure is a tricky thing. I love the idea of interactive displays on every wall, I love the idea of a whole class set of AR headsets (like the Microsoft HoloLens 2) and I love the idea of interactive textbooks viewed on tablets. But as you identified, the biggest problems have to do with price. At a time where schools struggle to order new textbooks every time the curriculum changes, 1-to-1 programs are on a 3-5 year replacement cycle and many buildings need new roofs, I think that the future of education looks the same as today.
Devices that aren’t used for multiple subjects, don’t have a ready library of resources, and don’t have clear advantages in either student achievement or teacher workload will struggle to gain traction. If AR visual aids become mainstream, and that is a big if, we may start to see holograms through shared AR headsets become a reality. But until then, I know of too many teachers who don’t even use interactive whiteboards as anything more than a projection screen to be too optimistic about its use in the classroom.
Thanks for the feedback. I agree that cost is a big factor and it can be so hard at times to even get the funding for books and 1-on- programs. But, I hope this will be a one time big investment and will be a solution for all the old problems until we have new challenges.
Hi Ritu,
This idea reminds me of a movie I watched where the teacher was a hologram, and all of the students sat outside under a veranda. I don’t know that we could actually get to that point, where we can remove a teacher from the room, as we would still need teachers to help navigate, and to be another resource for the students. However, as you outlined beautifully, the advantages, particularly in science, would be incredibly helpful to help with understanding for students especially for the macroscopic (like the solar system) and microscopic (like electron configuration) that are not easily conceptualized by students.
Thank you for this lovely resource.
I appreciate your feedback, Cimray.
I had the similar feeling while researching about it, that it was some sort of movie and a metaverse classroom was just another level. I totally agree that teaching physics, particularly Newton’s laws of motion and kinematics, will be engaging and practical. In addition, learning about human anatomy will be a lifelong experience that will help students do better on examinations and in labs.
