Some of the most popular music education apps have centred around sophisticated music composition programs like Garageband, or music notation software like MuseScore. I was curious about music exploration and creation for younger students and stumbled upon the app ‘Loopimal’. This is a fun, simple, aesthetically pleasing, yet addictive app. Users experiment with different musical animals (each with their own musical accompaniment). Users associate shapes and colours to build a unique musical song. These skills help young students develop musical form, pattern recognition, and other necessary skills needed to create their first songs. Animals can be paired up for duets, trios, or quartets. The developer YATATOY’s app is ranked #33 on Apple’s education apps, and their other musical app Bandimal is ranked #15. This app could be used for primary music centre stations in the classroom, in daycares/preschools, parents exploring music with their children, or even adults who are young at heart! I’m curious, have you tried this app or other exploratory educational app for young children?

This seems like a helpful app for teaching music to young learners. I would like to check if this is available outside North America, as I think it could be beneficial in some music classrooms for young learners where I live.
