Part One: What is a Digital Story?

What are Some Ways in Which a Story can be Shared?

Stories are told in many ways and books come in many different formats. The ones we are most familiar with are hard copy books or books that are printed on paper.

Task:

  • Ask your teacher for a copy of the story “Raheen Goes to the Moon.” Read the book with the group you have been assigned to.
  • Converse about the format of this book and how it is a physical copy of a story.
  • In your group, brainstorm about ways in which a story can be told. Make a visual representation of your ideas.

What is a Digital Storytelling?

Digital Storytelling is the practice of using computer-based tools to tell stories. Digital Stories have all the same components of traditional story. They differ because they usually contain some mixture of computer-based images, text, recorded audio narration, video clips and/or music.

Task:

1) Have you ever read/seen any digital stories? Write a response in your online portfolio about your expereinces with Digital Stroies.
