My Latest Adventure: Creating a DVD

I had an opportunity to create a DVD that included a short video clip as well as some pictures.  While I found the process interesting, it wasn’t without its struggles.

 Time Commitment

Creating the DVD wasn’t too bad, but the process of finding the video clip and the pictures took much longer than I anticipated.  If I were planning to create a DVD for my students, I think it would take even longer to locate just the right resources.  Also, the process of finalizing/verifying the DVD seemed to take forever on my computer.

 What Worked Well

Selecting the themes was really easy and the process of creating the menu was pretty painless.

 Challenges

The first challenge was finding a computer in my home that had a DVD burner!  It was also somewhat difficult to import the pictures.  I chose capture import and then had to look under “add new movie” to find the pictures.  It took a bit of hunting to find them as they weren’t where I was expecting them to be.

 Surprises

I was surprised by the flexibility regarding the way that pictures could be brought in.  The software allowed scans, imports from a digital camera or USB.

I am by no means an expert, but I do feel more comfortable with the process should I decide or need to create a DVD in the future!
