I am Jacky and I am an international student from Hong Kong. I am a year 3 student and majored in Human Geography. I want to become a city planner in the future and this is the reason why I am taking Human Geography.I hope I can have a chance to work on the city development project in Hong Kong in the future, so studying the Geography in Global South is useful for me. Moreover, gentrification is the most important process in Hong Kong and studying the gentrification in other Asian countries are really interesting, and it may helpful for my future study on the urban cities.
During the research process, it is interesting to find out that the gentrifications in Dharavi which is the most famous slum in Mumbai are slightly related with Hong Kong. The gentrification in Dharavi has referred the gentrification projects from Hong Kong. For example, the gentrification project in Hong Kong Tai Hang where I used to live before I come to Vancouver.
