On March 15th, GEOG 495 hosted lunch with Aboriginal students in collaboration with the First Nations House of Learning at 12:00 p.m. This weekly luncheon works to build community and connections across campus.
The luncheon featured a brief presentation by our community partner, Celia Ruiz, president of Jolom Mayaetik as well as the opportunity to dialogue with other Indigenous weavers.
Celia Ruiz, the current president of Jolom Mayaetik, our community partner, arrived in Vancouver on March 7, 2011. We are very pleased that the Canadian Embassy granted the visa so Celia can be here with us in class.
