ETEC 565

ETEC 565 Begins

My first experience with ETEC 565 was a task to create a voice message in Vista. That was the easy part and then the learning began. The first module introduced work on Digital Age Teaching. It introduced the ISTE-Nets for Teachers and Administrators. The one statement that caught my attention was this one:

“In todayʼs digital learning culture, itʼs less about staying ahead

and more about moving forward as members of dynamic learning communities.”

This answers the need to feel like you have to be an expert at everything. It’s not about knowing it all, it’s about trying something new and working it out with others. Just like the community of learners in this course.

The second task was to set up our e-portfolio for the course and then to get a ‘flight path’ written about what we hoped to learn, accomplish and create during this course. I have already extended my skills with WordPress since that first task. (https://blogs.ubc.ca/hjdew/2011/05/14/word-press-wondering/)

Moodle and More

Now into the beginning of the fifth week of the course and the learning has been intense. This weekend I spent one full day working on the LMS proposal and another full day on creating a movie in iMovie. I am proud of the final product from both day’s efforts. I have been asked by others why I do this work. I say, because it interests me, makes me feel fulfilled when the work is done and excites me when I can share my work with others.

Today I wrote about Moodling and Meandering. Within my post I shared some interesting websites and items that I had discovered while trying to get a handle on what Moodle is all about.

Here is some html code I discovered at http://abowman.com/google-modules/dog/. There are a few interesting ones, but this one really caught my eye. The animated image of the dog will respond to the items at the bottom of the screen. Try throwing some doggie treats or a red ball, and watch what happens. The html coding is complicated to the eye, but the results are eye catching.
