Project Statement
Located in the Ucluelet harbour, the Oyster Garden creates a safe and nurturing environment that aims to support the wellbeing of infants and their families, both pre and post-natal. Inspired by the motifs found in shells, symbols of the womb and protection, this garden harnesses the power of nature to promote improved birth outcomes, alleviate symptoms of postpartum depression, and connect infants to the outdoor world early in their lifetime. With ocean views, a sensorial playground, and restorative planting design – the Oyster Garden is a place of healing and inspiration.
