The UBCO Indigenous Art Intensive will pause it’s programming and classes June 1st and 2nd to take a necessary pause to mourn, rage and reflect on the needs of ourselves and our communities in the wake of the discovery of 215 unmarked graves at Kamloops Indian Residential School. (please check with your instructor but most classes are cancelled for this two day period).
We stand beside the many relatives and generations affected by this and other ongoing traumas of colonization. We call on action by governments and churches to support the T’kemlups to Secwepemc in the work to be done to care for and seek justice for all those spirits. The Truth and Reconciliation process was a beginning not an end and we will continue to see truths emerge. We offer heart and strength to all those affected.
Please share these available resources and care for yourself and each other.
