B.Ed Courses

Inquire  Imagine  Inspire

On this page I am going to include some key projects I did during my year in the B.Ed program. I will also include some reflections from these classes.

Aboriginal Studies:

my school project      this is a photograph of a group project I planned for my Aboriginal Studies class. The project was meant to be a showcase of how we can take Aboriginal Pedagogy and apply it to our own classrooms. My idea was inspired by wanting to collaborate with my entire class and get them to participate in the project. I bought a puzzle from amazon and on one side of the pieces I wrote down quotes from different sources. One source was from the Grade 10 Social Studies textbook, and the other sources were from different aboriginal sites my group could find. Our theme was land treaties, and our goal was to show how the textbook does not deliver the entire story. Each puzzle piece is marked with a number, and so I read out a sequence of numbered puzzle pieces with printed information from the text book and my fellow classmates read what was on the back of their puzzle piece and then laid it down on the table picture side up. Once the textbook pieces were finished being read the class had a visual representation that the textbook was missing information. The puzzle was only half finished. So I called out the rest of the numbers and with the help of primary source evidence the puzzle was complete.

This project was so amazing, the help from the entire class, and the visual representation made it so powerful. It has got to be one of the projects I am most proud of.

The next assignment I did for my Aboriginal Education class is a video I filmed and edited on making Bannock from a primary source recipe.

This Link will take you to my facebook page where you will find a video project me and my fellow classmates put together for our Multi-Literacy’s class. We were given the task to create a project that included at least three different literacies commenting on the B.Ed program. I am very proud of this video, I became increasingly very good at video editing during my year at UBC and so I would like to showcase my talents. I created and edited two other videos which I will upload later on.
