Two companies have done something we’ve learned over and over again (provided you took the right courses!) during the MBA program. Look, listen, and learn from your customers. In this case, the customers are online shoppers, and a startup called Superfish and another company named Google (like you need a hyperlink there!), whom you may have heard of, have done the above, and reacted appropriately.

Don’t worry my friends, there’s an answer out there that even starving students can afford. The wonderful world of outsourcing (4 Hour Workweek anyone?) has become so competitive that even students like us can afford to pay for professionally done presentations, when we’re out in the working world of course. I’m not advocating utilizing this service right now of course! A company based out of Goa, PPT Salon, operates entirely online, minimizing costs, and offering highly competitive prices. This is a great offering for small startups and clients who can’t afford premium prices for presentations. How good are they? Well, there were no reviews available so I can’t say. However, the website is well designed with plenty of examples of some of their recent work. And at $99 USD, it’s definitely worth keeping in mind.

Looking for an original way to get around the city? Tired of stuffy bus rides to school and want to enjoy the fresh air? Considering a fixed gear but don’t want to commit to glasses with no prescription and jeans fit for a fourteen year old? Well thankfully, you now have another option to add to the mix that’s not a recumbent bicycle! I found it on the website inhabitat and it’s called the FlyRad. Yes that’s right, the FlyRad.

For those that haven’t heard, Amazon has put a how-to guide to pedophilia for sale on it’s website and is not taking it down. The mere fact that they’re putting a book like that on their website is disgusting, but the results of the backlash are even worse. Prior to this story breaking, the book had sold but one copy. When TechCrunch wrote about this story earlier today, the book was 158,221st on best-selling Kindle e-books. As of the writing of the article I found, it had jumped to 146th amongst all paid Kindle e-books. That’s over a 100,000% jump in less than a day. Excuse me while I go throw up.
This is wrong for so many reasons and I just don’t understand what Amazon was thinking on this one. I’m curious to see how Amazon’s stock performs tomorrow after closing higher than it’s open today.

So back in March of this year there were a few posts floating around lauding the benefits of the Windows Phone 7. The apparent iPhone killer…right.
In today’s news: Android phones. Nonetheless, here are some thoughts on the Windows Phone 7.
The phone is now prepped and ready to go on the shelves in North America as of today. What’s interesting is how excited some people were about its release eight months ago, and how things have changed. Expectations for good quality apps were high, yet the phone is being released with a paltry 1,000 apps available (compared to 100,000 and 300,000 for Android and Apple respectively).
The large screen was also, at the time, a major feature, but Android phones, the iPad, and countless other products have now made the screen seem somewhat dated.

Rick Ferguson, an acknowledged expert in loyalty marketing wrote an article in November of 2008, with the intention of using examples of word-of-mouth (WOM) and viral marketing campaigns to investigate how to measure the effectiveness of these types of campaigns. In addition, he also made an effort to suggest some key concepts to follow when implementing such a campaign.
