I wish Video Games were never invented…. secretly

Currently: Not wanting to work tomorrow morning at 7:00am…. but I need the money.

As Summer treks along, my list of things that can keep me occupied becomes shorter and shorter. Lately, I’ve been so ridiculously bored, that I’ve even resorted to watching every single YouTube “Top Viewed” Video… everyday. But the thing is, I have so many things that I could be doing. Going to the beach with my friends, working out (getting in shape is something I really need to start on), working more hours and making more cash money, or just plain out partying! The problem is… I’m lazy. I hate getting out of this throne (or office chair for all you normal people) that is in front of my dual monitor gaming computer rig.

This past week, the Old Spice man (If you have no idea who this is, go check out the Old Spice Commercials on YouTube… brilliant advertising in my opinion) has been replying to random twitter comments, youtube comments, and internet replies from random users. I’ve spent a good 2 to 3 hours just watching these videos. They pretty much consumed an entire day of my life. Here is a link to my favorite one, if you like this one, go check out the rest of them… It will be the best couple of hours of your life.

Old Spice Man’s reply to Mathew Sinclair

But I don’t just spend 100% of my time in the world of Youtube. I managed to get my hands on a Starcraft II Beta Key… could’ve been the worst/best mistake of my life. I’ve been playing for about 3 to 4 hours a day… sometimes more. All I gotta say is… VERY VERY ADDICTING. If you’re planning on getting the game, be prepared to throw your life away for a couple of weeks. All I can do is play against other players and I am already addicted. I remember playing through the first Starcraft Game… and I’m sure many of my male readers have memories much like mine. For all you video game nerds out there, I’ll be posting my analysis on the game after the Beta is over. Although, you can also search YouTube, there are lots of players who just post videos with commentary, in particular HDStarcraft and HuskyStarcraft.

OUT OF THE WORLD OF COMPUTERS AND NERDYNESS

So, this week’s House Musik Episode is dedicated to all my amazing cousins. I am blessed to be in such a loving and caring family. My best friends are my cousins, and I wouldn’t of had it any other way. Not to mention… all my cousins are ridiculously talented. (Especially me) I will be leaving for a 3 day trip to Whistler with all of them, and I am so stoked for it! We are going to be playing “Don’t forget the Lyrics”… and I am prepared to lose. (Considering 90% of the songs I listen too have absolutely no words in them) I am so happy to be born into this family!

Honours Degree in Biotechnology

Currently: Sending everyone I know a link to my mix on SoundCloud

This week, I was accepted into the joint honours degree program for Biotechnology between BCIT and UBC. I’m not sure how many students were accepted, but not a lot, I know that for sure. This program entails me going to BCIT for two years (for their more advanced labs), starting this September, then coming back for another two years of studying at UBC. The entire time, I have to maintain a average of 75%, which will be tough, but is definitely do-able. I am not looking forward to leaving the amazing UBC campus, but I’m sure BCIT will be just as good. It will be close to my cousin’s work place at EA Games, so I’ll be able to visit for lunch! But at the same time, It’ll be far away from all my best friends over at UBC, but fret not, I will most definitely come over to UBC as much as possible. I feel so fortunate to have done well in 1st year, enough to get into a honours program. Now to do just as well in 2nd year. I have to fill out a whole new application form for BCIT, I’ll be both a UBC Student AND a BCIT Student. WOWZAS.  Gonna be a very annoying process though, I have to go back and get a High School Transcript, and then also get a UBC Transcript… UGH. But all in all, I am proud of myself. When I found out that I got into the program, there was only one thing I could do…. Party.

With Summer School over… the only thing I can do is Party. Nothing to do at home! This week was Armin Van Buuren and Benny Benassi at the new Vancouver Convention Center. All I gotta say is…. WOW! What a amazing show, possibly the best party I’ve ever been too, and I’ve been to A LOT of parties. A little angry that it had to end at 1:30am because the Vancouver Convention Center Staff were ashamed to be holding a event in which people were doing illegal substances and getting drunk. Honestly, I feel like House, Trance, and all the Techno Genre’s of music are going to be the new Mainstream Genres. It is only a matter of time before all night Techno Parties become the only events young people will attend. DJs will soon be making much more money than singers and songwriters. All it takes is time, and the next generation to rise up!

Speaking of Techno Music, THE RETURN OF HOUSE MUSIK. I am going to be doing it again weekly, but this time it’ll come on Monday, and you don’t need to download it anymore! I made a account on SoundCloud which allows me to stream the entire set. Unfortunately, it will only allow me to save up to 2 hours of music. So I will only keep a mix up for a time period of two weeks, then you have to download it off my original site (I will post links). Tracklists will also be posted on SoundCloud. Here is a link to this weeks mix!:

Electronic Daisy Carnival 2010

Currently: Sitting in my room, contemplating on thoughts of cleaning it… but won’t actually act on these thoughts.

This past weekend was possibly the biggest Electronic Dance Music event in all of North America. The Electronic Daisy Carnival in L.A. brings in about 100,000 people from all over the world, along with only the best of the best in the Electronic Dance scene. It takes place at the Exposition Park and Memorial Coliseum… which is where the NBA Championship Parade usually ends. The mainstage area fits 100,000 people at normal capacity, and 60,000 people at this event! Multiple stages were set up, each fitting more than 5,000 people each at the bare minimum. Basically, this event is HUGE.

I’ve made it mission, to attend one of the upcoming EDCs (short for Electronic Daisy Carnival) in the near future. No matter how much work I have to do to go, I will end up going! If my blog is any indicator of how much I love Electronic Dance Music, then you know how badly I want to go! Alright, so there’s good music… but that’s not all! Believe it or not, there is a full amusement park ready for you when you get there to be used while the banging tracks are in the background. This is the place to be in June, that is clear.

As for life in Vancouver, let the partying begin. CHEM 233 IS FINALLY OVER! The after Chem 233 was over, I went to Library Square for 90s night (which is actually really really fun, and I encourage everyone to go to there!), Afrojack Live at Caprice (he is my idol), and on a Club Hopping night between Caprice, Republic, and the Roxy. All I gotta say, is that life is good right now. Tomorrow I am going to a couple of Pubs/Bars, getting a couple of free drinks, then going over to the Post Modern to party at midnight for Canada Day! It’ll be a good night.

Along with all the partying, I had to make a decision on the Major I wish to pursue. After a lot of careful thought and what seemed like years of debate with my friends… the winners are:

1st Choice: Honours in Biotechnology
2nd Choice: Major in Pharmacology
3rd Choice: Combined Honours in Chemistry and Biology

I think I set my standards too high… I think that I’ll be some genius one day… but yet I party instead of hardcore studying. Anyways, expect a mix soon, I have like 9 on my laptop just sitting there… I guess I’ll post one!

P90….. X!

Currently: Finishing up reading my English 112 Assigned reading.

So, my New Years Resolution this year was to get in shape and bulk up. Prior to working out, I weighed only a measly 125lbs. A week later, I weigh 132lbs… I gained 7lbs of PURE MUSCLE. (I hope.) Now, I know what you’re all thinking… how did I do this!? Simple. P90X! Its a 90-day workout routine, you do it everyday, for about an hour. (Except for when its the Yoga Day, I can’t do that routine to save my life, so I cut it short) You basically work on a different part of the body everyday, and normally alternate between Upper Body and Lower Body / Cardio. The first half of the Routine is as follows:

Monday: Chest, Back, and Abs
Tuesday: Pylometrics (HARD AS HELL, basically works your legs and core)
Wednesday: Shoulder, Arms, and Abs
Thursday: Yoga (I fail at Yoga)
Friday: Legs, Back, and Abs
Saturday: Cardio
Sunday: Your Rest Day

On top of the workout, I also take two different supplements.  A Creatine Supplement and a Protein Supplement. The Creatine Supplement is called “Cell-Tech” and GUARANTEES, that I gain 7lbs in the first week. (Which I did) The Protein Supplement is called “Quick Mass” and it has HIGH calories and HIGH protein, to help me gain weight as quick as possible. Some of the Calories turn to fat obviously, but that’s what working out is for, to burn those off!!

So that is my New Years Resolution, the first one I’ve ever actually stuck too for more than a week.

Things to Do Over the Weekend

Currently: Taking a Call of Duty break.

I am SOO SOO SOO sorry that I haven’t been posting. Life is harsh, and I had to take care of things that had to be done before I could share things with you! Now that thing’s are slowly settling down, I’ll get back to my normal postings. These past 2 weeks have been HELL for me. Lot’s of homework, midterms to study for, adjusting to a new living pattern, learning to drive, so much reading, getting sick, and other various stressful situations. The one major problem in my life right now is Motivation, or rather the lack of Motivation. This final stretch with the combination of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has completely shot the mentality I had at the beginning of the year to the ground. If anyone has tips on how to stay motivated, PLEASE share, I am desperate. My idea is to give my mom my Call of Duty CD and not give it back to me until after Finals. But back to my list… here it goes: (Order is in Priority)

  1. Get a haircut (reshave my head)
  2. Catch up in Chemistry (I am SOOOOO behind)
  3. Read and Understand Chemistry Crystal Workshop Package
  4. Catch up in Physics (Not as bad as Chemistry)
  5. Practice Driving
  6. Finish up my latest mix CD (compilation of my DJ Sets)
  7. Do some Calculus – Predicting Graphs given the function (These are such long questions!)

That looks like a fair reasonable list for this weekend. I work from 5:00am to 1:30pm on Sunday morning, so I can’t overload myself. I’ll post more after this weekend!

The Derivative of Life = Stress.

Currently: Listening to Showtek’s new Podcast. If ANYONE listens to Hardstyle (I highly doubt it) download and subscribe to Showtek’s Podcast… it’s awesome!

I’m sorry that I haven’t posted in almost a month! This past month has been a very hard month. October Midterms took over my life for a week, then I had to move back to my mom’s house. Then immediately after that I had to start studying for the 2nd batch of Midterms… finally here I am. Midterm free, and looking at the pile of homework and readings I have to do to catch up. I am sorry that I will have to keep this short, my life is seriously taken over by school and other things I need to do.

Here’s a video from the latest “all-night dance event” I was just at.

I hope all of you aren’t having a majorly stressful time, like I am! It’s definitely not fun!

Super Nintendo

Currently: Taking a break from reading “The Tempest” by Shakespeare (no idea what’s going on, but that’s what Sparknotes is for) to write this post.

Before I start, this post may contain “geekyness” and “nerdity”, reader discretion is advised. So, every year, October to March of the next year is when all the good video games come out. Me, being a video game fanatic… as lame as it sounds, am excited for upcoming releases. I’ll have to ration my video game playing time, school is still priority, but everyone needs a break. There are three games I absolutely can’t wait for. I’m dieing in anticipation that these games will take over my life.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Release: November 10th, 2009

Sequel to the first Call of Duty, this game is all about war. I enjoy this game because my friends from High School play it and with online play, I get to shoot other players from around the world side by side with my buddies. That’s what you call bonding right there. This game has got big buzz, many people, like myself, are waiting anxiously for this game to come out so they can dedicate their lives to it. Me, I’ll be smart enough to limit myself to only a couple of hours a day, and the random off day when I have no work, I’ll put in a good 6 hours. I’m more into this game for the Online Play, and if it’s anything like the first one, this one will be good. The single player missions have also been boosted in graphic detail, according to the CEO of Infinity Ward (makers of the game) and are looking good. This game is going to be as close to real world war as I am going to get.

Final Fantasy XIII
Release Date: 2nd Quarter, 2010

I’ve been a Final Fantasy Fan all my life, I’ve played Final Fantasy since I was 10 years old, and my first game was Final Fantasy 7. This game looks amazing, and I seriously can’t wait to get my hands on it. I don’t know much about it, all I know is that the Trailers look awesome. And if this Final Fantasy is anything like the past, It will definitely take over my life… guaranteed. Nothing I can do about, just have to accept the fact that when this game comes out, I am going to be MIA for about a month.

Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty
Release Date: 2nd Quarter, 2010

If you are a male, and you grew up with a computer, you have to know the original starcraft. Its a legend. This game, looks like it will surpass the original starcrafts “legendary” status. From the demos they’ve shown, this game looks absolutely amazing. With 3 sets of this game coming out, one for each race in the game, I’m sure this series will keep be busy for at least a year after the first one comes out.

END TALK OF VIDEO GAMES HERE… CONFIRMED.

With all these advances in video games and entertainment (3D Movies and such) I wonder what is going to be next… I’m thinking invisible iPods and floating toilets. That’s next on the world’s list of technological advances.

Science Frosh 09′ Aftermath

Currently: Sitting on my couch, listening to Imogen Heap.

Science Frosh 09′ has its high points and its low points. For one, I think majority of the day wasn’t very organized (that’s from my perspective). For one, when they were explaining the activities, they didn’t have a way to amplifiy the leader’s voice so majority of us had no idea what was going on. The Scavenger seemed very disorganized, some of us even getting into trouble for going into Louis Vuitton and asking for a simple shopping bag. (In my opinion, they should’ve asked Louis Vuitton permission first) There was major construction on Broadway, so the buses were full and uncomfortable, which wasn’t a likeable experience. The Camera’s that were used to take the pictures weren’t very good, to the point where my group’s camera lost all its pictures.

But neverless, the high points outweigh the low points of Science Frosh 09′. The speeches from one particular Professor at the beginning of the day (can’t remember his name) was excellent. The Pizza was tasty, as what we’ve come to expect from Dominoes Pizza. The Scavenger was pretty funny, when we actually stopped walking and went to stations and did funny, obnoxious things in front of the adoring public. The Hot Dogs that were made by the SUS Executives were very good (Thanks for that!) and when we finally got to socialize as an entire group (instead of just out groups) I got to meet some interesting people. The Boat Cruise was the HIGH point of the night. The entire cruise was awesome, I was literally dancing from start to finish. The DJ even let me take over and do a couple of mixes! It was definitly good times, and I’m glad I didn’t miss it. If only I didn’t have to get up at 8:00am the morning after to go to school.

On another note, classes are getting intense, lots of homework. I find myself reading at least 20 pages of material a day from various classes. Also, for all you fellow blog squaders that submitted the Bio Information for the Koerner Library, you can find out pictures on the screen in the lobby area!
