  • Kaltura Caption Orders – Intermittent delays
    • Issue: Intermittent delays have been reported where the orders are stuck in a ‘Pending’ state.
    • Status: The Vendor indicated that the issue is a result of the third party vendor’s API call to the UBC hosted environment. It appears that the integration times out intermittently but will eventually get processed within a 48 hour window.

  • Kaltura Capture
    • Issue: Received a few reports that some Kaltura Capture recordings (webcam with powerpoint) are out of sync.
    • Status: RESOLVED
Users should install Kaltura Capture Application version: 4.2.110 which is available by going to: My Media > Add New > Kaltura Capture (Download Page).

  • Interactive Video Quiz (IVQ)
    • Issue#1: Received a few reports that some scores in the Video quiz are not being pushed into the Canvas Gradebook
    • Scenario 1: Courses with over 50 students
    • Action/Workaround: Gather the scores from the Kaltura Video quiz analytics page and manually update the Canvas Gradebook. Note: IVQ grade scores are only pushed into the Canvas Gradebook via Assignment (using Kaltura IVQ LTI).
    • Scenario 2: Video quiz submission cookie is only valid for 1 hour
    • Students who pause or leave a video quiz window open and return to it after more than an hour to complete the quiz will find that the video quiz results will not be passed to the Canvas gradebook as it has exceeded the 1 hour LTI submission cookie limit.
    • Scenario 3: User’s Browser settings interfere with the transfer of scores to the Gradebook
    • Ad blockers or third party extensions may impact the transfer of scores to the Gradebook. Students should disable them prior to taking graded IVQs.
    • Issue#2: Video Quiz questions are being skipped
    • Scenario: Cue-points that are too close together (i.e. within 300ms) can cause issues
    • Example: If the ‘start time’ value of a “question’ cue-point is too close to another (ie. “annotation” cue-point), it can cause the question to be skipped.
    • Action/Workaround: Edit the cue-points and increase the distance between the two.
  • Other Reported issues:

    1. User Access
      • Some individuals have reported problems viewing embedded Kaltura Media or access Media Gallery/My Media (personal repository). When accessing these areas, they receive a blank screen. This is an issue also experienced on the Kaltura SaaS environment. Kaltura are currently investigating.
      • Action: Individuals should contact the Kaltura team via LT-Hub (lt.hub@ubc.ca) to investigate the issue.
