This is a wired article about one company developing a system to turn road surfaces into solar panels. This idea has been around for along time but it seems now to be at point where it may be feasible. This would be part of the “Smart Grid” and distributed electrical production. It would also change the relationship electric plugin vehicles would have with the roads. However, this would not solve problems associated with sprawl and traffic congestion.
