Using the Tools
The Learning Commons is intended to be an accessible online space for learners to find resources to support their learning. The site draws together a variety of spaces and applications where we interact with each other, create and host our content—these include:
Here’s the list:
- Meebo Chat: for online access to Chapman Learning Commons Assistants.
- UBC Blogs: for the latest posts by student bloggers from the UBC Blog Squad, LiveJournal at UBC and the UBC Library.
- Delicious: a social bookmarking tool where we store links for each page.
- UBC’s YouTube Channel – Learning Commons Playlist: for the videos we create.
- UBC’s iTunes Channel: for the podcasts we create—look for ‘Chapman Learning Commons’ under ‘Departments and Services’
- Flickr: for photos from UBC Library and UBC-related photostreams.
- UBC Wiki: the Learning Commons wikispace for authoring content.
- Facebook Page.
- Twitter: UBCLearn.
- Yahoo Pipes: for RSS feeds.
You’ll find usernames and passwords for these tools in a list on Basecamp (our project management tool). Just search under files: Passwords.
