Who am I?

My Face

Hello! Welcome to my E-portfolio. Start getting to know me as an educator here, with a brief overview of my experience and qualifications. From here feel free to peruse the story that began my teaching journey, teaching philosophy, professional development and a small portfolio of example units and lessons.

After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of the Fraser Valley in 2012, specializing in Human Geography and Theatre, I began the Bachelor of Education program at UBC in September, 2013, gaining experience in teaching secondary social studies and International Baccalaureate both at the Diploma Program and Middle Years Program levels. For my practicum experiences I taught at King George Secondary School in the West End with an extended experience at Mulgrave School in West Vancouver.

My work experiences are varied but almost always include working directly with helping youth and supporting other adults. I’ve adapted courses from Big Brothers Big Sisters on female empowerment and self-esteem, and developed my own week-long education programs on pioneer life and life in early British Columbia. I have extensive experience supporting students with special needs, starting with my younger brother who fits on the Autism Spectrum.

I have worked as a Behaviour Interventionist, supporting youth on the Autism spectrum since 2013. My clients have included a 17 year-old gentleman and a recent graduate of the BC high-school system, who is working on transitioning into adulthood and a 12 year-old girl dealing with the trials and tribulations of making friends, getting through puberty and performing in middle school.
