I’m unable to comment on the actual pages you have written, but I am still going to give my general comments here.
I think you have done a very thorough job of providing the background and IR of Lebanon. Reading the history and other important aspects on this blog complemented the presentation you gave on the country. This country indeed has gone through a lot and I did not even know about the Christian/Muslim cleavages that exist within the state until you informed us!
A few suggestions for the blog. I personally would like to know a bit more about its pre-colonial history, even if it is just one paragraph. It would be nice to get a bit of a broad understanding of Lebanon (or what it was before) before being introduced to the French mandate in 1920, other than being part of the Arab world.
Of course, as the “economics”-focused student, I would also like to see a bit more history on the policies that Lebanon have adopted post-independence on its economy. Some other questions to consider: What was the mechanism that allowed the market system/outward orientation to prevent conflict in Lebanon? Was it a reputation of stability by the outside world? And how significant are international flows for the country?
Of course, you can only do so much with a limited word count, but these are just suggestions after all. Overall, well-done with this blog and I look forward to seeing the rest of your content!
