Analytics

In the pursuit of scaling learning in organizations, analytics is going to play a key role. The technologies we use day-to-day for collaborating, building and consuming content provide a digital footprint – one that we can examine and consider as we consider how learning is (or isn’t) occurring in the organization. And, as we further orient toward a decentralized and democratized view of learning, we still need insight on impact and where to invest in potential interventions.

Digging into Learning Analytics provided me with a chance to develop a plan of inquiry that led to the publication of paper focused on Team-based Analytics for Informal Learning (TAIL). You’ll see me reference this paper quite a bit – as it highlights key aspects of thinking about informal learning, understanding work and key capabilities that need to be considered in a software-driven (digital) organization. In support of Team-Based Analytics for Informal Learning (TAIL), I created a short presentation to introduce the concept and the paper. To go along with the slides, I put together a short script and a video.

Supporting TAIL, I’ve also put together some views on the vendors that support xAPI via LRS solutions including: YET Analytics and H2T Labs. Further, I explored the concept of a new venture in support of Digital Learning that builds on these ideas – calling the venture Flytguide.
