August Workshops at the UBC Farm

Summer is still here! Here are some workshops happening at the UBC Farm:

 

Three Sisters in The Kitchen: A Traditional Maya Cooking Class

Join members of the UBC Farm Maya in Exile Garden for an interactive traditional cooking workshop this August. Learn some of the medicinal and culinary uses of various herbs and vegetables grown in their garden. In this workshop, participants will learn how to make the delicious yerva Mora salad; the steamed and sauté amaranth (bledo) with squash blossoms with freshly made tortillas. Try your hand at making fresh tortillas, and enjoy the garden-fresh dishes you prepare!

Deliciously Decorative: A Garlic Braiding Workshop

Join us at the UBC Farm for an evening dedicated to preserving and storing UBC Farm softneck garlic and flower harvests in a decorative way.

You will leave the workshop with a beautiful braid of your own making from organically-grown garlic and flowers organically-grown on the UBC Farm. Approximately 1lb of garlic and decorative flowers are included in workshop price.
