BARtalk: Fees, Funds, and the Future of Education

A panel discussion will take place this Thursday, November 13th at 6pm at the Gallery Lounge. BARtalk is an informal speaker series that brings together UBC’s leading faculty, students, and alumni to speak about important global and local issues. All events are presented by the Alma Mater Society and The Terry Project, and feature short remarks from our panel members followed by an informal Q&A session.

This BARtalk is titled “Fees, Funds, and the Future of Education”, and we expect it to be a frank and forward-thinking discussion on our current state of proposed fee increases at UBC and how it will affect the future of post-secondary education institutions. To this extent, we have an excellent panel of speakers including:

  • Louise Cowin: Vice President, Students
  • Anji Redish: Vice Provost and Associate Vice President, Enrolment and Academic Facilities
  • David Eby: Point Grey MLA
  • Deanna Rexe: Graduate student in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University, who studies tuition policy formulation in Canada.
  • May Anne Then: President, International Students Association, UBC

This event is restricted to ages 19+.
