Animal Welfare Judging Competition – UBC Teams going to Iowa State

UBC’s Animal Welfare Judging/Assessment (AWJAC) Team presents “Pet-A-Pup”!

Come relieve your midterm stress and relax before the long weekend starts by petting some dogs! We will have big dogs, small dogs, old dogs, young dogs, they’re all great dogs!

When: October 5th 11am-3pm
Where: Macmillan’s Basement at UBC’s Point Grey Campus. Right outside Agora Cafe.

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/115930685765316/

There will be a 15 minute time limit to ensure that everyone gets a chance to pet some pups.

Event is by donation with a $2 minimum. Cash Only. All proceeds go towards supporting the AWJAC Team’s trip to Iowa State in November to represent UBC at a conference. The Intercollegiate Animal Welafere Judging and Assessment Contest is a fun and educational event designed to enhance awareness and understanding of welfare concerns affecting animals used for human purposes, such as agriculture, biomedical research, and companionship. UBC placed 1st at last year’s competition! This year’s competition is at Iowa State University. We are excited to announce that interest has grown so much that two teams will be representing UBC this year. More students means more funds are needed to cover the cost of the trip.

The team members have put together a Go Fund Me page, please visit: https://www.gofundme.com/ztpzjj-send-ubc-students-to-iowa-state to contribute.  Share this with friends and family.  We’re very proud of the fact that the ‘home’ of the AWJT is the Faculty of Land & Food Systems.

Help support UBC’s participation in this annual event!

Stay tuned for spoilers on which doggies will be coming to campus!
