UBC Day of the LongBoat | Sept 30 – Oct 1, 2017
This signature UBC event takes place on the shores of Jericho Beach with over 3,000 people paddling in the largest voyageur canoe race in the world. Your team races in either just-for-fun or competitive heats to the finish line. You can also enjoy games at the Day of the LongBoat festival, and the facilities at the Jericho Sailing Centre.

UBC Harvest Feastival | Sept 28, 2017
On September 28, grab your friends and colleagues for a night of food, art and culture. Start things off with a little cocktail & conversation at the Alumni Centre, and then head just a few steps away for a feast featuring fall favourites from the UBC Farm. Before your last mouthful of dessert or sip of wine, be sure to plan your after-dinner entertainment at one of the many special shows and exhibits planned just for you at UBC’s world-class Arts and Culture District.
Will it be letting the feast settle as you soak in UBC’s Symphony Orchestra or laughing off the calories at improv from Vancouver Theatre Sports? Whatever you choose, Harvest Feastival is the perfect way to kick off the fall season.

The AMS Food Bank is recruiting volunteers to help run the service for this upcoming academic year. The AMS Food Bank has been growing exponentially since it’s inception 12 years ago and now services over 500 client visits per semester. The Scientific Connection Between Plants, People, and the Environment with Brian Minter – September 16
As we move towards supporting 9 billion people, thanks to science there has been a dramatic shift in our understanding of the value of plants. Brian will share the emerging discoveries of how plants affect us and the world around us. From health and wellness to pollinator food sources, sequestering carbon and cooling urban heat islands, the role of plants has been re-positioned to a new and far more important level.

Intergenerational Landed Learning Project: Farm Friend Volunteer Opportunity
Put your hands in the earth and wonder at the journey of the seeds, the many flavours of leaves, and the small magnificence of bees!
Join the Intergenerational Landed Learning Project as a Farm Friend Volunteer!
Intergenerational Farm Friend teams of one elder, one younger adult, and 3-5 elementary school children learn and practice caring for the Earth as they explore, grow, harvest, cook, and eat together at the UBC Farm. Farm Friends commit 13 days (Wednesday or Thursday, 8:30am-1pm), every other week, September-June. On-call volunteers also sought.
