To Be or Not To Be

by liannemcradu ~ September 16th, 2010. Filed under: Ethics.

We should all be aware of what is going into our bodies, but unfortunately, there are many underlying aspects that we should question about the food we eat. But the topic of whether your food is genetically modified is not something that you usually think about. Many of the genetically modified foods that are sold are not labeled in the U.S. Genetically modified foods have been around for about forty-years, but have been used on a much wider scale in the last few years. Much like the States, Canada does not have the requirement of food producers to identify if the food is genetically modified.  In the Europe and other nations around the world, genetically modified products are labeled for the consumers advantage. This is unethical that it is the job of the consumer to do all the research. With limited research, there are still many unknown factors about how it affects our health, as well as the environmental cost. Although we would want to eat all natural, fresh foods everyday, we may not even know if what were eating is the real deal.
