Asad Kiyani

Asad Kiyani is a Liu Scholar and first-year PhD student in the Faculty of Law at the University of British Columbia. His research focuses on the development of modern international criminal law, and the legitimacy of the International Criminal Court. He is specifically examining both the narrow criminal law procedures employed by international criminal institutions, as well as the apparent structural conflict between their legal and political objectives. His research interests include the rules and structures of international law, the relationship of the developing world to the institutions of international criminal law, national security law and immigration, and the relationship between Islam and the West.
