A Musical Sentence
An instructional text about musical phrasing made into an acrostic poem
A Musical Sentence
Piece of the puzzle in the composer’s musical story
How does one determine where it begins and ends?
Revealed by melodic shapes and patterns, 2, 4, or 8 measures in length
A curved line hovers over a group of notes
Separated by a breath mark before the next one begins
Identify the Most Important Note: in the middle, or the highest / longest note
Now, gradually grow towards it and/or away from it
Graced with inflection, the musical story is brought to life

Cross-genre recipe
We saw a few cross-genre translations into recipes, I had to do the opposite. I decided to take my recipe and turn it into a story. My story shares how to make cinnamon buns using yeast. This was a really fun exercise that I would absolutely use in my class one day. Working in groups students could create a story about the recipe, take it to an elementary buddy read the story and invite them back later to cook from the book. I would like to thank Keynote (where I did the drawing) and Pages (where I found a story book layout) because I don’t necessarily consider myself a writer or a drawer.
One thing that I will say was hard about this exercise was having to keep the technical aspect while keeping it light and accessible for kids.
This is a link to the book if your interested in a further read.

Assignment 3: Phys Ed Musical Jingle
The autotune app I used is Voloco (10/10 would recommend the app).
Here are the song lyrics:
I know you are afraid, you are petrified.
But here I have a song that will open your eyes.
It is simple once you see
The 4 game types in PhE
So we will learn
Then we will play
Some target games, invasion games,
And don’t forget the net/wall and striking/fielding games
We will not crumble
We will not lay down and die
We will be active
Because it helps us surviveeeee
We will start sweet
With Target games
The most simple type of game
Where the goal is always the same
To hit the target
The closer that you-get
Will make you superior,
Can it even get easier??
Okay what’s next?
Let us not forg-et
The fielding/striking games
Where one team is o n the field
And the other is at bat.
Would you look at that?
When you hit the ball it GOES smack
Into the field
And then you run
And run and run and run and run
To win the game
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doooo
Now Net/Wall games
Doo doo doo doo
In this game type
There are Two sides
two separate teams – with a Net or wa-ll in between.
You hit a game object – back and forth
And how you score
Is by hitting the floor
Inside the court
On the side that is not yo-urs
Oh doo da dee
Onto the next, and also th-e most complex
Invasion Games
We have two teams, and their goal is both the same
To score more goals
Than the oppononos
Oh no no no
We will not lay down and die
We will be active
Because it helps us surviiiiive
Beep boop boop bop

If You’re Hamlet and You Know It Clap Your Hands
(to the tune of If You’re Happy and You Know It Clap Your Hands)
To be, or not to be, that is the question:
To be, or not to be, that is the question:
To be, or not to be,
To be, or not to be,
To be, or not to be, that is the question:
Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to suffer
Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to suffer
Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind
Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind
Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
The slings and arrows of
The slings and arrows of
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
Or to take arms against a sea
Or to take arms against a sea
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And, by opposing, end them?
And, by opposing, end them?
And, by opposing,
And, by opposing,
And, by opposing, end them?
To die: to sleep; No more;
To die: to sleep; No more;
To die: to sleep;
To die: to sleep;
To die: to sleep; No more;
and by a sleep to say we end the heart-ache
and by a sleep to say we end the heart-ache
and by a sleep to say
and by a sleep to say
and by a sleep to say we end the heart-ache
and the thousand natural shocks that flesh is heir to,
and the thousand natural shocks that flesh is heir to,
and the thousand natural shocks
and the thousand natural shocks
and the thousand natural shocks that flesh is heir to,
‘tis a consummation devoutly to be wished.
‘tis a consummation devoutly to be wished.
‘tis a consummation
‘tis a consummation
‘tis a consummation devoutly to be wished.
To die, to sleep; To sleep: perchance to dream:
To die, to sleep; To sleep: perchance to dream:
To die, to sleep;
To die, to sleep;
To die, to sleep; To sleep: perchance to dream:
ay, there’s the rub;
ay, there’s the rub;
ay, there’s
ay, there’s
ay, there’s the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
For in that sleep of death
For in that sleep of death
For in that sleep of death what dream may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
When we have shuffled off
When we have shuffled off
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause…
Must give us pause…
Must give us
Must give us
Must give us pause….
Revolutionary Baseball Play
For my cross-genre translation, I decided to mix Social Studies and PHE by translating the steps of a revolution into a baseball play, as said by an announcer. I have attached the reading, a picture of my drawn baseball field, and the written summary.
