MOA Field Trip

unnamed

Today we celebrate the success of the hunts with a giant feast. My mother is one of those in charge of the food and is using her bowl that she inherited from her mother before her. We have spent a lot of time preparing and cooking the meat that the hunters brought back. The rest of it we will have to salt and preserve for Winter, when food is not as plenty as it is right now.

My mother’s bowl is shaped in the likeness of a seal. It can hold a great deal of food and can feed practically half the village. It can hold so much food that it takes a few men to lift it when it is full. I love the way it looks. One day when I get married, it will be passed down to me, and my daughter after me, and her children after her.

We will feast tonight. There will be music, there will be dancing and there will be joy.
