Louise, I think this “initial thoughts” piece is really well developed. There seems to be an awful lot of congruence between the different measures of democracy’s scores for these states. It may be useful to spend some more time focussing on how the measures differ in their assesments of the states that you have chosen. If there is none really to speak of, then I think it says something about the validity of most of these measures. Perhaps all the differences are “much ado about nothing” at least as far as these cases go.
