Abstract
Wind power is becoming one of the most applicable renewable energy technologies around the world. Geared wind turbine system is a widely used in wind power technology, dominating 83% of the global wind power market. In this project, the potential of direct drive wind turbine, mainly the permanent magnet direct drive (PMDD) wind turbine system, will be investigated to unlock more technical and economical constraints for a better future development of wind power generation.
In this project, the reliability, maintenance requirements and the capacity factor of different wind turbine systems will be investigated in the technical side. Then, the cost of materials, operation, and maintenance (O&M) cost will be studied. Followed by the policy review of the mining waste treatment and recycling of the electronic and electrical products that backed the opportunities for the discussed technology. The project will be ended with the future trend and development of the wind power generation.
